US U-17 To Face El Salvador For World Cup Spot

The US U-17 team will play Group A runners-up  El Salvador with a spot in the U-17 World Cup on the line. After defeating Panama in the previous round 1-0 off a goal from Andrew Oliver the team has secured first place in their group and moved on to the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF U-17 Championships. The US has competed in every edition of the U-17 World Cup and is the only team to do so. If they win today they will be able to keep that streak alive.

Also at the same Championships Haiti’s team was forced to leave because two of their players had contracted a fever. It was suspected that the fever was a result of a cholera epidemic in Haita although it turned out to be Malaria. The Haitian people and government are very upset about the treatment of their team by Jamaican officials and have been protesting their disqualification in the streets of Port au Prince
